Grayhawk has been open to the public since 1994, and it’s one of only two Scottsdale courses to have hosted a PGA TOUR event, the Frys.com Open on Raptor from 2007 to 2009. Two par-72 18s, Talon and Raptor, sit at the same address in North Scottsdale, independently owned and operated by Grayhawk Development rather than a chain, which shows up in how consistently the place is run.
It’s also one of the easiest recommendations we make for a group that can’t agree on difficulty: two genuinely different rounds, a strong practice facility, and a real 19th hole to end the day.
Talon vs. Raptor: What Each Is Known For
Talon’s back nineis the course’s signature stretch: deep box canyons, sharp drop-offs, and skyline views that make it the round groups talk about afterward. Designed by David Graham and Gary Panks in 1994, it’s the tougher, more dramatic of the two 18s.
Raptor, a Tom Fazio design reworked on holes 15-17 in 2015, is generally flatter and more forgiving, a practical pick for a mixed-handicap group or a second round at the same facility. It's also the course that hosted the Frys.com Open.

Getting There & On-Course Logistics
Grayhawk sits at 8620 E Thompson Peak Pkwy in North Scottsdale, roughly 20-25 minutes from Old Town.
No caddie program; it's cart golf, two carts per tee time. Dress is collared or mock shirts, no denim, cutoffs, or plain tees. Overseed cart-path-only restrictions run mid-October through early November each fall.

What's the 19th hole at Grayhawk?
Phil's Grill, named after longtime Grayhawk ambassador Phil Mickelson, is the on-site 19th hole and one of the better post-round scenes in Scottsdale golf. It's a separate spot from Isabella's Kitchen, the property's flagship restaurant.
Is Grayhawk worth it for a group or bachelor trip?
Yes. Mixed-handicap groups do especially well here since Talon and Raptor offer two different difficulty profiles at the same address, and Phil's Grill gives the group a real post-round hangout instead of scattering to find dinner.
