Troon North is the course that gave Troon Golf its name, and it's still the standard-bearer for high-desert target golf in Scottsdale. Two 18s, Monument and Pinnacle, both designed with Tom Weiskopf's hand, sit among granite boulders at the base of Pinnacle Peak, with bentgrass greens and conditions that hold up year-round.
It's a repeat entry on Golf Magazine's Top 100 You Can Play, and an Audubon-certified sanctuary, which shows up in how the desert around each hole is left alone rather than manicured into something else.
Monument vs. Pinnacle: What Each Is Known For
Monument is the one everyone's heard of: links-inspired, firm and fast, built around an iconic boulder guarding the par-5 3rd. It's the round most groups ask for by name.
Pinnacle plays through more canyon and elevation change, with forced desert carries that ask more of your ball-striking. It gets less name recognition than Monument but is, in our experience, the better overall round for most groups. If your trip has room for both, play them back to back.

Getting There & On-Course Logistics
Troon North sits at 10320 E Dynamite Blvd, about 30 minutes from Old Town Scottsdale.
A forecaddie is included per foursome Thursday through Saturday mornings during peak season (roughly mid-January through late April), with a $40+ per-player gratuity expected. Outside that window it's cart golf, shared carts required before noon.

Not really as a standard option. Shared carts are required before noon, and walking isn't the norm here the way it is at We-Ko-Pa's Saguaro course.
